Pays de la Loire

In Pays de la Loire bunkers are to be found mainly in the city of Saint-Nazaire, being the largest port city in the region. Other sites are situated further south in the direction of La Rochelle. The rather short coastal area consisted of 1 Stützpunktgruppe and 1 Festung. The earlier mentioned city of Saint-Nazaire received the status of Festung, because of the port it held. From this port submarines controlled the Atlantic as well, the massive bunkers built for this purpose also still remains. The city is an absolute highlight as it comes to fortifications.
