England

Festung

Being the only English territory that Germany occupied during the war, it was decided to convert them into an impregnable fortress. The islands were declared Festung, designated to resist the offensive, and the defenders were ordered to defend it at all costs. Although the islands are relatively small they were heavily defended. For example, Jersey with a surface of 118 km² received no less than 100 strongpoints, resistance nests, anti-aircraft batteries and artillery batteries.
