Verteidigungsbereich Den Helder
During the war Den Helder played a role as a harbour city, here the Kriegsmarine had it’s naval base. Because of it’s importance, in and around Den Helder all elements of a strong defence were te be found. Nowadays anti-aircraft batteries on the old Dutch forts, several naval batteries and other positions forming the Seefront, and a Landfront are still present. Within the perimeter of Verteidigungsbereich Den Helder an interesting airfield and strengthened telephone junctions remain as well.
