Festung Jersey

Jersey

Being the only English territory that Germany occupied during the war, it was decided to convert them into an impregnable fortress. The islands were declared Festung, designated to resist the offensive, and the defenders were ordered to defend it at all costs. Although the island is relatively small with a surface of 118 km², Jersey became heavily defended by more then 100 strongpoints, resistance nests, anti-aircraft batteries and artillery batteries. The defence units are to be found along the beaches as a strong system.
